Purgatory is a poetic, experimental film that describes the director’s melancholic reflections on her life moving between Iran and Canada. Suffering increasing alienation in both countries, she becomes overwhelmed as memories of past lives intermingle with present thoughts and dreams. The interweaving of seven themes: dream, arrival, childhood, love, desperation, departure and return leads us on a stream-of-consciousness journey.
